We all lead busy lives and organizing and decluttering our homes doesn’t often rise to the top of our “to do” lists. But we’re here to tell you that spending the time organizing your home now has so many benefits, from spending time with your family and friends to saving you time.

Here are just some of the ways that you and your family will benefit from having an organized home:

You will have more time to do the things you want to do. You will have more time to spend on yourself, with friends and with family.

You’ll look forward to having family and friends come to your home. You will find yourself offering to host your book club, poker night and dinner parties. And (bonus!) you won’t dread the unexpected guest!

You won’t waste time looking for things. Have you ever been ready to leave the house, but you can’t find your keys/shoes/purse/phone? We’ve all been there. But if you home is organized (my favorite mantra is a place for everything and everything in its place), you won’t be wasting time looking for misplaced items, because there won’t be any!

A place for everything and everything in its place.

You will eat better. When you know what is in your pantry, fridge and freezer, it’s easy to improve your diet and eat healthier. Menu planning becomes a breeze when you know what you have and know the meals your family likes to eat.

Your home will become your haven. You will enjoy spending time at home, versus coming up with excuses to run errands or spend time at other peoples’ homes.

You will save money. One of the biggest clutter mistakes we make is buying items we already own because we (1) forget we own them and (2) can’t find the items.

Truthfully, this list of benefits to maintaining and organized home is only the tip of the iceberg! Check the blog in a few weeks for part 2 of why putting in the time to organize and declutter your home (either on your own or working with a professional organizer) is something you want to do!
