How to Organize Your Office in 5 Easy Steps

Did you know that you can improve your efficiency and productivity by working in a well organized office? Whether you work from home or in an outside office, learning how you can organize your workspace to become more effective at what you do is a game changer. Here are some of our favorite tips.

Start with basic decluttering. Dispose of obvious trash, remove items that don’t belong, gather your office supplies and throw away items that no longer work and donate the ones you no longer need.

Clear the digital clutter. Get rid of outdated tech, delete old emails, create folders on your desktop to organize your digital files.

Create an organized paper filing system. We all need to keep some physical paperwork. Scan what you can, recycle as much as possible, and then create a well-organized paper filing system that works for you.

Organize your desk top. Keep your often-used items like your laptop or a favorite pen within arms reach. Put the rest of your supplies in a desk caddy or desk drawer (and make sure they are well organized and labeled).

Add personal touches. Whether you add a small area rug, a potted plant or fresh flowers, or a few family photos, make the space yours by personalizing the area with what is meaningful to you.

And don’t forget…at the end of each work day schedule five minutes to straighten up your desk, file away important papers, and tuck in your desk chair.
