Gift Bag Storage Ideas
/During the holiday season (and birthdays, anniversaries, and so on) you are bound to receive gifts. Gifts for the children, gifts for the adults, hostess gifts and gifts from your family, friends and neighbors. This can result in an overabundance of gift bags. And if they are in good, reusable condition, then saving them for future use is a great idea. Reduce, reuse, recycle! But how do we go about storing these gift bags for the future? Following are a few tips and tricks to make it easy to reuse the gift bags. And remember, before you store them away, be sure to remove the gift card that came attached to the bag if it's already been personalized.
1. Sacrifice one gift bag to hold the others. When doing this, choose a gift bag that is large enough to hold the rest of your collection. Choose one that is of the appropriate theme, and put other similar gift bags inside. You can do this for Christmas, birthdays, Valentine's Day and any other holidays that you celebrate. When placing the extra bags inside the main bag, be sure to organize them by size so all of the small bags are in the front, followed by the medium size bags and then followed by the largest bags.
If you have solid color gift bags, gather them all together and group the colors. Sacrificing one solid color, larger sized bag to hold all of them together.
2. Purchase a hanging gift wrap organizer. These types of organizers are perfect if you have space in a closet. There are sections for gift wrap, gift bags, gift cards, tissue paper, scissors and tape. These organizers will help you to keep all of your gift wrapping supplies neatly organized in one location.
3. Purchase an under-the-bed gift wrap organizer. Similar to the hanging gift wrap organizer, these organizers have spots to hold all of your gift wrapping needs. However, instead of hanging on a rod in a closet, this organizer can fit under a bed or on a shelf in a storage area such as your basement or attic.
4. Utilize the back of a closet door. If you find that you are often giving gifts, then finding a convenient spot in your house to keep your gift bags and other gift wrapping supplies is key to making this an easy chore to accomplish. Consider using a system to hold all of the supplies that can easily be installed on the back of a closet door.
5. Utilize magazine holders. If you have a small collection, and space on a shelf in your office or in a closet, utilize magazine holders to hold your gift bags. Be sure to organize the gift bags by size and to label the exterior of the magazine holder. Have fun and find ones that match your room decor.
6. Utilize decorative baskets. Hidden in plain sight, consider using decorative baskets that match your room decor to hold your gift bags. This is a convenient way to have your gift bags at your fingertips but without it being an eyesore.
Keeping your gift bags organized by holiday or color is a great way to keep them from getting lost in your home. At just a quick glance you'll know exactly what you have and where they are stored.
