8 Benefits of Packing Cubes
/Is it a fad or is it here to stay? You’ll have to be the judge of that. But I’m here to tell you that using packing cubes will change your travel game! What’s a packing cube? They are zippered pouches of varying sizes that help organize everything in your suitcase, from clothes to toiletries to electronics. I’m an avid traveler and I know that living out of a suitcase for even just a few days can get old quickly. We don’t always have the luxury of unpacking and staying in one location for an extended period of time. Enter the travel cube.
Not convinced? Read on for my top reasons to use travel cubes.
You can always find what you’re looking for. Use the red cube for socks, the grey cube for t-shirts, the blue cube for jeans. Whatever your system, set it up and stick to it so you’ll always know exactly where to find what you’re looking for. You might even consider using one color per family member so even your young kids will know where to find their items.
Helps prevent overpacking. Cubes come in various sizes, but still, they only hold so many items. This forces you to leave behind the “just in case” items which are often the culprits to overpacking.
Options to organize. When using the cubes, you can designate cubes to hold a certain category based on the color of the cube. Or you use cubes to pack specific outfits including bottoms, tops, undergarments, shoes and accessories. You can even bring one along to hold dirty clothes.
Cubes help to minimize wrinkles. When using cubes, you tend to fold your clothing in a more thoughtful manner thus reducing wrinkles.
Maximizes space in your luggage. Packing cubes help to compress your clothing which gives you additional space in your luggage.
It’s easy to find what you need. Whichever packing system you use, you’ll quickly learn what is in each cube so it will be easy to find your bathing suits or your jeans.
Packing cubes are versatile. Packing cubes aren’t just for clothes and shoes. You can dedicate one to hold technology, one for cosmetics, and one for travel documents. And if you travel with a daypack or backpack that has just one large compartment, smaller packing cubes can help you keep the inside organized.
They are environmentally friendly. Yes, in a pinch you can use a gallon size bag from your kitchen. But it’s so nice to know that packing cubes are reusable and washable.
If you haven’t tried packing cubes yet, give it a go on your next trip. I have no doubt that they will revolutionize your travel experience. And be sure to download the Living. Simplified. Packing Checklist to simplify the process! Bon voyage!
