6 Items to Toss at the End of Summer

Summer is a time for fun in the sun, BBQs, family gatherings, beach trips and lots of sunscreen. When the fun winds down, the kids go back to school, and we get back to a more scheduled daily routine, it’s a good time to edit out summer items that have seen better days. This is a great list to get your started on your decluttering and organizing journey!

Summer clothes you didn’t wear this season. If you didn’t wear it recently, then you’re not going to wear it in a year! Pass along the clothes that you don’t wear. Maybe something doesn’t fit well, it’s worn out, you purchased something but didn’t really like it. Whatever the reason, now is a great time to let it go. And don’t forget about those summer accessories like hats, costume jewelry and scarves!

Flip flops that aren’t comfortable. If flip flops pinch your feet, gave you a painful blister, or just aren’t comfortable, pass them along and treat yourself to some comfortable summer footwear.

Swimsuits that are worn out. Elastic and spandex doesn’t last forever. Bathing suits get stretched out, the sun fades the color, or maybe it just doesn’t fit as well as it should.

Broken luggage. Who wants to take a vacation only to discover when you’re packing that the zipper isn’t working or the wheels are broken. Say goodbye to the old luggage and get something new. Who knows; maybe you’ll even be planning a trip in the coming months.

Damaged or unused pool toys. Is that pool noodle a bit slimy or missing some chunks? Is a pool game missing some of the pieces? Does the beach ball deflate quickly because there is a leak? If you said yes, then replace the toys now so you’re ready for next summer.

Broken grill tools. If your grill tools are rusty or broken, treat yourself to a new set so you’ll be ready to fire up the grill next spring.

When you’re done getting rid of these items, make sure that you’re ready for your next warm-weather vacation or next summer. Replenish the sunscreen and bug spray, vacuum the sand out of your car, and make sure everyone has a pair of sunglasses (without scratches!). Enjoy the good vibes and see you next year on the beach!
